What the app keeps, and where

Your workout progress, run history, notes, and settings are saved only on your device. There are no accounts, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

Location

If you turn on distance tracking, First 5K asks for permission to use your location. It uses your location only while a workout is running, to measure how far and how fast you go. Your location is never sent off your phone, and you can turn distance tracking off at any time in Settings or in your phone's Settings app.

Voice coaching

Spoken cues are produced by your phone's built-in voice. No audio is recorded and the microphone is never used.

Backups

When you choose Export, the app creates a backup file and hands it to you. Where that file goes (Files, email, a message) is up to you. The app does not upload it anywhere.

No tracking, ads, or analytics

First 5K has no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services built into it.

The website

The web version at running.samuelroys.com is hosted by Netlify, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We don't use those logs to identify you and don't combine them with anything else.

Children

Because the app collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
